Google, founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, is the world’s dominant search engine. It processes billions of search queries daily, guiding users to relevant web pages. Beyond search, Google has expanded into various domains: Gmail (email), Google Maps (navigation), Google Drive (cloud storage), and Android (mobile OS), to name a few. Its vast ecosystem also encompasses advertising services like AdWords and AdSense. Google’s search algorithms are sophisticated, frequently updated, and prioritize relevancy and user experience. Moreover, the company has ventured into hardware (Pixel phones, Google Home) and continues to push technological boundaries with projects like self-driving cars and AI research. The brand “Google” has become so synonymous with internet search that it’s often used as a verb: “to Google” something. As of my last update in September 2021, Google.com consistently held the top spot or was very close to it in Alexa rankings due to its global reach and usage.
